Technical Deep-Dive

Based on BIP-32 (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal 32), HD key derivation generates a tree of child keys from a single master key. Each child key is cryptographically independent - knowing one child key reveals nothing about the master key or any other child key. POY Verify uses this for platform isolation: when you enroll, a master key pair is generated in the Secure Enclave. When you interact with Platform A, a child key specific to Platform A is derived. Platform B sees a completely different child key. No entity - including POY - can link your Platform A identity to your Platform B identity without access to the master key (which exists only in your Secure Enclave). The derivation uses HMAC-SHA512 with the platform identifier as a diversification factor, producing 512 bits of output. The first 256 bits become the child private key material, and the corresponding public key is derived using elliptic curve multiplication. This is the same technology that enables cryptocurrency wallets to generate unlimited addresses from a single seed phrase.
