AI Content Label
The compliance layer governments are mandating. POY stamp equals certified human-made content. Meet EU AI Act Article 50 requirements.
What Is AI Content Label?
AI Content Label is a compliance tool that enables platforms to meet government mandates for labeling AI-generated content. As the EU AI Act (Article 50, enforceable August 2, 2026) and similar regulations worldwide require platforms to distinguish AI-generated content from human-created content, AI Content Label provides the technical infrastructure to comply.
The approach is simple: content that carries a POY content stamp is certified human-made. Content without a stamp is either unverified or AI-generated. This binary distinction is exactly what regulators are mandating - and POY Verify provides it with cryptographic proof rather than probabilistic AI detection.
Why AI Content Labeling Is Now Mandatory
- EU AI Act Article 50 - Requires providers of AI systems that generate synthetic content to mark output in machine-readable format. Enforceable August 2, 2026, with fines up to 7% of global revenue.
- FTC guidance - The US Federal Trade Commission has issued guidance warning against deceptive AI-generated content and endorsements.
- Platform policies - Meta, Google, TikTok, and X have all implemented or announced requirements for labeling AI-generated content.
- Public demand - Surveys show 82% of internet users want to know whether content was created by a human or AI.
How It Works
Human Verification
Content creators verify their humanity through PoY Identity. This one-time step establishes them as a verified human.
Content Stamping
When verified humans create content, they stamp it with a cryptographic signature proving human authorship. The stamp is embedded as invisible metadata.
Label Generation
Platforms query the POY API to check whether content carries a valid human stamp. Stamped content is labeled "Human-Made." Unstamped content is labeled "Unverified" or "Possibly AI-Generated."
Compliance Reporting
Audit logs track every labeling decision with cryptographic proof, creating the compliance documentation regulators require.
Detection vs Certification
Most AI content labeling approaches try to detect AI-generated content - analyzing text patterns, image artifacts, or statistical signatures to guess whether content was machine-generated. This approach has fundamental problems:
- Detection accuracy decreases as AI models improve
- False positives (flagging human content as AI) damage creator trust
- False negatives (missing AI content) create compliance gaps
- Adversarial techniques specifically designed to evade detection are widely available
POY Verify takes the opposite approach: certification. Instead of trying to detect AI content (an arms race), it certifies human content (a stable foundation). Content with a valid POY stamp is provably human-made. Content without a stamp is unverified. No guessing. No false positives. No arms race.
C2PA Integration
AI Content Label integrates with the C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity) standard to provide the most comprehensive content labeling available. C2PA tells you what tools created content. POY tells you whether a verified human was involved. Together, they provide the complete transparency that regulators are mandating.
